What movie can you watch again and again?
There's so many movies I can watch over again! And I have to narrow it down to one?
Ok, I pick Pan's Labyrinth. I love the story of this movie. It's a bit gory in some parts, but it's crucial to the story line. I think the Spanish language is so gorgeous. I wish I could speak it fluently. And this is actually Spanish from Spain (not North American/Southern American Spanish). So they use a conjugate of "you all"--kind of like the American Southern, "y'all". It's so purty to my ears.
And I love the actors and actresses in this movie. They were so good for their roles. The movie has a wonderful soundtrack and the special effects are so good--but it doesn't detract from the storyline; only enhances it.
I got the Spanish words for "my prince" from this movie. I call my son my little prince, and since he is also Spanish, I like to call him "my prince" in Espanol.
I don't own this movie, but I watch it all the time on Netflix. I'm definitely on the lookout for a copy.
Runners Up: "Memories of a Geisha"and "Moulin Rouge" (my favorite musical).
I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

I have so many! I tend to re-watch many movies...
Some of my childhood faves: the little mermaid, beauty and the beast, annie, grease, crybaby
And the others: goodfellas, casino, mean girls, love actually, 40 yr old virgin, shrek, steel magnolias, uptown girls, the resident evil movies, tortilla soup, real women have curves
Most of my movies have been watched like 30x. haha
OMG U live in IL?! I live in Chgo! Exciting! I know great bubble tea places, I can give u a few, if you'd like!
@DameUnBeso06@xanga - Yes, yes! I LOVE bubble tea so much. Haven't found any good places for it yet. So where do you go for your bubble tea?
Do u live in the city of the burbs? There is a restaurant called "joy yee", they have good bubble tea there, they make it all fresh and have tons of options. There is 3 Joy Yee's: one in chinatown, one on 15th and halsted near UIC and one in Evanston. There is also a place called "Thai Bowl" on lincoln near depaul university. "My place for tea" on sheffield and belmont has it, but its mediocre. And in addition to those, try korean or vietnamese town for good options too. I dont have much knowledge of the suburban options, I live on the west side of the city(hermosa) and prior to my current apt, I lived on the south side of the city by chinatown.
@DameUnBeso06@xanga - No, I live way out in the farm country, LOL. I'm a couple of hours away from Chicago. My husband used to work in Chicago, so I'd go there to meet him after work. Thank you so much for the suggestions-I can't wait to try them out.
Oh wow! My friend Angela used to live in Decatur, as far as i'm concerned, that was farm country! lol. If u ever end up in chgo, I suggest going to one of the joy yee chains. Their food is awesome, the portions are huge and its pretty inside. I love asian food (viet, korean, japanese, chinese, thai, etc.) since we're on the subject of boba and asian food, do u know of any asian markets or stores in IL that sell beauty products? I'm dying to get my hands on asian beauty products and lashes but idk where to go!
@DameUnBeso06@xanga -
Hmm,
I don't know of any Asian beauty stores. Or any stores that sell Asian
beauty products. Wish I did though. Someone else told me that if I
wanted Asian products in IL, I'd have to check out the Internet--that's
probably the best (if only) way to go.
I ate Filipino food for
all of my life up until 2 years ago, haha. I love Chinese and Thai
food! Finally, someone in IL who knows what boba is! I ask people
around here and no one ever knows what it is.
@RoAngie467 - people tease me and my dad and say we are "75% chinese". lol. We have no asian in our blood at all, but we eat chinese food constantly and my dad grew up in chinatown, I grew up a few blocks away, so we show love to asian culture! We eat the "real" asian food, not the americanized types that most people eat in chinatown like orange chicken and what not. The americanized type is still good, dont get me wrong, but thats kind of our thing, ordering like "real asians" in chinatown. People always comment on how we use chopsticks so well and how we like the asian foods that are more unusual. A lot of old ladies stare at us. haha My dad actually doesnt like boba, its just me and my mom. And a few of my friends.
@DameUnBeso06@xanga - To eat Filipino food, we don't use chopsticks--we use our bare hands! It's a bit shocking to some and looks like we have no manners, but to us, it's more respectful to the food than eating with a fork and knife. I didn't use chopsticks until I started my first year of college. The school I went to only had "Americanized" Asian food which is like you said, good, but it's not authentic.
@RoAngie467 - we use our hands at home when we eat stuff like chicken and what not. I mean, its just easier than ripping it to hell w a fork and knife. I can see why filipino culture sees it as being more respectful than using utencils. Do u know any good filipino restaurants in IL? I had homemade filipino food in NY but never been 2 a restaurant.
@DameUnBeso06@xanga - Luckily, there is one restaurant just a half-hour away from where I live. It's called "Bahay Kubo" and it has a buffet and a menu that you can order from. I've been told that there's some Filipino restaurants in Chinatown, but I don't know the names.
Did you know there's a sandwich shoppe in Chicago that sells Chilean food? My husband was born and raised in Chile and he was ecstatic to find that place. I forget the name, but we haven't gotten a chance to check it out yet. That's one of my favorite things about Chicago--you can find almost anything.
@RoAngie467 - chilean food...hmmm i'm definitely interested, one of my friends was adopted from chile but was raised here. by our house they just opened two cuban restaurants but i've never been to a chilean rest in chgo. I'm 1/2 PR and i've found chgo has the worst puerto rican foods! Seriously almost all the PR restaurants suck! boooo!
