Happy New Year, everyone! And here is the first checkup of my list of goals. So far, I've only got one goal completed: Write down my love story. That was great, because it sorely needed to be done. I wanted to have something to look back on. As for the rest of the goals, I've done a lot of working towards them. (This checkup is done in the order of my goals).
For my education, I have registered for one online class that begins on January 12th. I'm taking "Introduction to Humanities". I've got my books for the class and we're going to be reading "A Midsummer Night's Dream." (Yay, I love Shakespeare). I've already read that story and performed in that play (I played Puck...yes, I know he's a guy), so I feel really good about the class already. To pay for my education, I've been logging into Fastweb everyday and looking for scholarship opportunities. I've received scholarships in the past, but I need another one. At the library, I've been checking out a ton of nonfiction books. I can't believe I discounted an entire section of library books before. I'm loving the self-help books. With my Moby Wrap, I have successfully mastered one hold. And Giovanni loves being wrapped up! And I love having both of my hands free.
For my artistic goals, I have the "Write my love story" goal completed. I already have the inspirations for my PostSecret and the painting that I want to paint. I'm thinking about a possible sculpture idea too. I kinda want to wait until I have taken some art classes first. I have definitely been blogging more, but not quite at a daily pace.
Familial-wise, I'm still doing well with breastfeeding Giovanni. I had troubles in the beginning, but we've got it down pat. And Giovanni is gaining so much weight, he's a little
"gordito". Aha, there's some Spanish for you! The main goal that I've been working on is finishing my Home Management Binder. With that finished, I can see a lot of my other goals falling into place. I showed my notebook to Carlos and he liked what he saw.
My traveling goals are hard to meet right now. It's winter. I hate driving in winter.
Dang, I am going to need a TON of work on my monetary goals. We're a single-income family right now and Carlos took 6 weeks off from work when Giovanni was born. Hopefully things will pick up come February.
And for myself, I looked into joining the gym at my school. It's not expensive at all, although I do wish it was a little closer to home. Oh well, no excuses! I do want to get toned and into shape. I have been growing out my hair and reading the Harry Potter series diligently. It was really hard, but I don't crack my knuckles as much. I do it out of boredom, so I try not to get bored in the first place. It's not to the point where I can say I've completed that goal, but it's close.
And so far, that's all I got! I'll do another goal check in February, and hopefully, I will have more to report. Over and out.

great job! Â keep up the good work :]
if you are stuck for ideas for good non-fiction books, lucky by alice sebold is very good.
are you sticking with the pre-med route?
@lesslikemath@xanga - Thanks for the encouragement! I'll be sure to check out that book recommendation. And yes, I'm staying with premedicine.
Bahaha, Boo is a gordita, pssh. That definitely reminded me of the slight spanish my two best (PR) friends and myself spoke in Cosmetology; ahh, good times.
&&I noticed you've spoken about the Moby Wrap a lot, is it like the Maya Wrap? I have a Maya Wrap and I like it, except my neck starts hurting really badly, haha.
I can't read Shakespear to save my life. I'm part British and I still don't get it, lmao. You'd think I would have some sort of understand after Brit. Lit., but definitely not.
If you need something new to read try Bleachers by John Grisham. Just read John Grisham period, I love him as an author!
Good luck with all your goals. Seems like you have good plans!
Happy New Year!
and thank you for the comment :D
@NOTdaGRLnextDR@xanga - Yeah, the Moby Wrap and the Maya Wrap are basically the same thing, except the Maya Wrap has pretty designs and thus, is more expensive...at least, that's the only difference that I can figure, hahahah!
And Shakespeare is hard to slog through. But I find he's worth the effort. Did you know the Disney movie "The Lion King" is based on Shakespeare's "Hamlet"? Oh, and I love John Grisham! He is a great author. I own his book, "A Painted House".
@RoAngie467 - I just got a plain Royal Purple, I couldn't decide on what I wanted, lol. I knew I needed to order it soon though, so I just did "eany meany miney moe," haha. I'm sure I spelled that wrong, I butcher everything.
&&great! I'm working on "The Innocent Man" now. I'm a very slow reader, always have been, so it'll probably be months before I get past page 100, lol.
I had no idea about the Lion King, that's fascinating!
@NOTdaGRLnextDR@xanga - I got an Indigo-colored wrap, but it looks more blue. I couldn't decide what to get either! And that's how I'd spell it, hahahaa. I'm a total bookworm. I read books so fast, it's like I eat them. Yeah, I'm a little bit nerdy in that aspect, but I'm okay with that!
You are doing great working towards your goals!
I cant believe how long I put off non-fiction books either! There are so many out there that are totally fascinating! If you like history and air planes - I recommend Skunk Works. It is a non-fiction semi-autobiographical book by a guy who worked for Lockheed Martin. He did a lot of work for the government and the military. Im not huge into air planes - and not always interested in history - but this book was fantastic!
You mentioned wanting to learn Tagalog. Jim got the German version of Rosetta Stone for Christmas. I installed it on our computer and was playing with it. I already know a bunch of German, so the level 1, lesson 1 was easy for me. (Although I plan to put in level 3 this weekend to see how I fare!) But based on what I saw, it will be a really good learning tool for any language. I am almost positive they have Tagalog. It is a bit expensive, but it might be a good way to learn Tagalog!
I cant wait until February to hear about everything else you have gotten done!!
@der_lila_Stern@xanga - I'm a total history buff. I'll definitely check out the book recommendation.
I just saw a a commercial for Rosetta Stone the other day! And they do have Tagalog. It is a bit pricey, but I think it's definitely worth saving the money for.
@RoAngie467 - My grandmother can go through a book in like 2 hours. I feel like I'm less intelligent because of it, but I suppose it doesn't mean that. I mean, I hope not! Haha.
&&I know it was only a dream and I'd never do it or think about doing it. I definitely don't long for anyone else at all, ever. It just feels wrong and horrible.
Definite poor L, I don't know how he gets girls, I really don't, lol.
@NOTdaGRLnextDR@xanga - I think reading a book that fast has a lot more to do with focus than intelligence...so, you're safe, hahahah!
I had one dream where I was overfriendly with my old best guy friend. I felt so guilty, I told my husband. He just laughed!
